China's stock index futures closed sharply higher on Thursday, with the contract for July 2013, the most actively traded, soaring 6.25 percent to 2,321 points.

The August contract surged 7.02 percent to 2,309.4 points. The September contract jumped 7.72 percent to 2,308.8 points, while the December contract gained 7.81 percent to close at 2,314.6 points.
